  1. I am very intrigued for beginning this course. I believe it will be one of the most important courses I will ever have at The American School of Tampico. I was told that we will practice and improve our writing, reading, communication skills, oral skills, critical thinking, and argumentative analysis; therefore, I hope I will become a better writer, reader, communicator, speaker, thinker, and analyzer. I have several goals for this course. I will do a remarkable oral presentation, I will write a great essay, I will work perfectly with my team mates, I will use my time wisely, and I will hand in every work on time. I really hope that all the skills I learn in AP Seminar will help me significantly in the future. I am very excited to see my classmates tomorrow and start a new school year. I wish everyone success.

  2. In the class of AP Seminar, I think I will have a great development, in which I will be able to improve my reading, writing, thinking skills, oral skills, communication skills, etc. I believe that this class will be very important for my development throughout my entire life, and I will be able to use the learnings I had for every job that I'm assigned to. One of my goals is to have a really great working environment, since is one of the most important things that is needed in order to work. I look forward to working with my peers in order to get better at important skills such as reading and writing. Also I want to do an exceptional presentation worthy of remembering throughout generations. I hope that the skills that I acquire throughout the course will help me get out of any difficult working situation. I am really looking forward to coursing this class, and success to everyone.

  3. Since I heard about AP Seminar and its focus, I thought: "This is the class for me", and it really is! It even fits me on how I am as a person since I consider myself a very analytic, thinking, and observant one. What the course offers is great and what I hope for the most is to awaken and improve skills that will serve me not only for college but for real-life situations. Additionally, one of the goals I have is to be better and more comfortable at public speaking, as well as getting to read diverse articles that will help me to effectively form accurate points of view and develop these on research papers. Learning to read critically is a must here, so reaching the heart of an author's argument, viewing it from different contexts/perspectives, and acknowledging or accepting these will help me be more open-minded. As I will be absorbing considerable material, I expect myself to be organized, to strengthen my time-management skills, and to cut procrastination. Finally, I aspire to reinforce bonds with my classmates, teacher and simply have a good time learning...

This is the first time I have ever heard of AP classes and is the first time I take one. My main focus for choosing AP Seminar was to acquire the abilities or master the techniques of reading articles, analyze information, synthesize data from multiple sources and be able to write well-developed essays using these abilities. My second goal for this class is to learn how to make and communicate evidence-based arguments for my essays. Last but not least, I want to learn in this class to create a balanced oral presentation where the whole team speaks the same amount. My highest hopes for this class is to obtain throughout the course the needed research skills to survive both high school and college and be able to fully analyze the information given.

  6. One of my main goals by taking this class is to be more expressive and clear when I state an argument, to get to the main idea without skipping any important details, but also without being redundant in certain parts of information. I hope that I will be able to improve my oral and verbal abilities in front of an audience (by the word "audience" I also refer to the implicit audience when you write an essay, which means that I also want to improve my writing and communicating skills). The greatest achievement I wish to obtain in this class is to lose that lack of self-confidence when I talk in public. I believe that dominating and changing this characteristic of mine will help in my life and obviously in this class. I hope that I can analyze and summarize articles in a short period of time without losing track of the section I am reading. I also need to be able to understand patterns, main ideas, and contradictions an author makes in a certain work of information to be able to judge which types of information are reliable or important.

  7. I decided to take this class because I figured it would help me in the future. Doing research, writing essays, and doing presentations are things I will have to do for my whole life. I really hope that this class will help me practice my skills involved in these activities so I can become better at them. I want to perfect my writing skills, as well as my presentation skills. I am not used to presenting while having little to no information on the slide so I know it will be a challenge at first but as time passes, I know that I will acquire the skill of presenting without much information on the slide. Critical thinking is a very important skill to acquire for high school, college, and life so my goal is to master this skill by the end of the course. I hope that this course will help me gather important data from sites faster. This course also involves working in teams which I hope will help us all to communicate clearly within the group in order to do a good job. Working in teams is very important because you learn patience, responsibility, communication, and how to collaborate with others and practicing these skills during the group project will really benefit us for the future. I also hope that the skills I acquire in this course will help facilitate my college experience. I have talked to older students who have taken this course and I aspire to learn as much as they did.

  9. When I first heard of what AP Seminar consists, I decided to take this class in order to improve my skills for the future. I want to improve my researching and writing skill as well as I want to practice more on oral presentations. My main goal for this course is to be able to read and synthesize information from different sources in order to write a well-developed essay and a proper argument. I want to include in my writing different perspectives and proper evidence to back up my thesis. This course also involves participation and working in teams, so I hope this will help me to practice my communication skills and learn to work together with my classmates to perform a well-done presentation. Lastly, my last goal for this coarse is to stop procrastinating and use my time wise. Additionaly, I want to learn more about critical thinking, analyzing data, and how to write a proper argument in an essay. I also hope to identify easily the main ideas of different sources and be able to identify id the source is credible or not.

This is the first time I have had the choice to enroll in an AP class. As soon as I saw AP Seminar in my enrollment form, I knew the class was for me. As I learn more about what the class consists of, the gladder I am to have enrolled in it. I am excited to learn about critical thinking skills and how I can use them appropriately to facilitate the completion of an assignment, essay, or presentation. I am also looking forward to increasing my ability to do good research and come up with a well-structured argument. One of my most important personal goals for this class is to manage my time and resources wisely so that I can come up with high-quality work. My participation in teamwork will also be important so I am looking forward to fully committing to that. Another equally important objective for me is to be able to take all the knowledge, skills, and abilities I acquire in this class and use it to its fullest extent on other classes and other aspects of my life. For example, classes in 11th grade, 12th grade, and college. Overall, I am looking forward to learning and growing in AP Seminar class.

  11. Last year, when I heard the 10th graders talking about a class called Ap Seminar I really did not imagine what it consisted off. Later on that year, I decided to start investigating what it was about. As soon as I heard there was a lot of discussing involved, I knew I wanted to join in. Now, I am exited to be enrolled this school year in the class. Apart from reaserching and writing, the skill that Im looking forward to get better at is oral presentations. Being able to go through a public presentation, with just a simple slideshow in the background as support, is my goal. It´s going to be a challenge, but with practice and this class I will be able to achieve it. I also want to be able to find and recognise reliable sources. This is very important, not only during this 3 years of high school I have left, but for my whole career in the future. Being able to work in a team is also a skill that I suppose and hope this class will focus a lot on. I consider it really important because our whole life we will need to work with others, even if they have a different mentality, and we still need to make it work. There are a lot of expectations I have for this class, but I am really exited to see my progress during the year!

  12. At first, I did not know what to expect from your class. I was nervous about it because I have trouble in oral presentations but after hearing some of other students comments I am much more relaxed. Still, I am sure this class will help me a lot in the future and give me the essential skills I will need. I want to become a good presenter and writer since I have trouble in those areas. I want to increase my security while presenting and talk without stuttering. I am sure to stay in this class all year long and hope I can learn a lot. I hope that the teamwork can help me grow as a student and person and learn new things. I trust that my skills will help me in the years to come. Overall, I am really excited about this class.

  13. One of my main goals for this year was to become a better writer and analytical reader since last year I struggled a lot at Ms. Latisha's class, and I think this course is the key for me to accomplish my goal. One of my biggest struggles at school are the oral presentations, I really hate to talk in public, but this is one of the reasons why I decided to enroll in this course, to lose this fear that I have and be prepared with master skills for the ted talk that I will be giving the next year. One of my hopes for this year is for me to feel good and included with my first semester team and with all of my classmates. My biggest hope for this year is to be proud of the essays that I do, for me to see the difference between my work from the past years to the ones that I will do in the future thanks to the AP seminar course. I have high expectations for this class and I am really anxious to get started, I am sure that I won't regret entering this class since it will help me in the future.

  14. I have very high expectations of myself on this course. I plan to make the most out of it. I tend to be very shy when I have to argue back on an educational level. I hope that I can gain skills and practice that can make me a confident speaker. I have also struggled in public speaking. I feel small and intimidated when someone argues my point, I want to learn skills on how to defend my point of view without loosing my patience/control. I have always been a fast reader. To be honest, it is hard for me to understand a text if I read it slowly. Sometimes I miss important and small details because Im used to scanning things, and only grasp the main idea/topic. I hope that I can learn that there are different ways to analyze a text. I am eager to learn how to properly structure an argument, how to identify them, and to make a deep and confident presentation.

As is the case for everyone else in this class (or at the very least, that's what I think to be the case), this is going to be the very first AP class I'll ever be enrolling in. I have heard many things about the nature of AP courses throughout the years—them being difficult, sleep-reducing and stress-inducing being some of the negative and hyperbolic qualities. However, after being more properly introduced to the nature of this particular class, I now have many hopes for it. More than anything, I wish to become a better presenter and public speaker by participating in this course; while last year's Spanish class's philosophical dissertation presentations had ended with me doing very good, I still believe I can do even better. Furthermore, I also desire to become a better, more concise and convincing essayist by the end of this and Ms. Lety's Pre-AP English course. These are also my personal goals for this course, and I'm beyond exited to see what kind of work I'll be doing this year and incredibly anxious to see how my results for this course turn out.

  16. I know entering this class is a privilege few of us have. I am very grateful to be a part of this class. As I came to the preparation class this summer, I sensed that this was going to be a hard class. Not necessarily hard, but challenging and needed lots of dedicated time. I understand this class works as a workshop. In this class, I expect to become a more analysing person, who questions everything read, seen, or heard, learns how to solve world problems and most importantly, who knows how to give a presentation correctly, appropriate for the audience, and in a correct volume and manner. On last year's classes, such as Ms. Letti's or Ms. Yadira's, I learned and practiced how to do oral presentations, however, in this class I expect to enforce those abilities. I expect to have a closer relationship with my classmates, as well as have a scholar union to achieve a better result in group works. I expect for my teacher to orientate me and my classmates when we have doubts.

  17. To be honest, I believe this course is extremely helpful to develop analytical skills that will help us gain new perspectives throughout the course and the rest of our lives. I’m really looking forward to learning how to synthesize better my information whenever I’m writing an essay or any other type of document.
My goal is to be able to be more skillful at the end of the course and to become better at analyzing and understanding information. Moreover, I know this course will help me find new perspectives and I will be able to discuss better since I will be and understanding the information. This will also help me by becoming a better writer since we cover how to do better annotations. Furthermore, I’m also excited because this course is essential to develop critical thinking skills even more than we already had in the past years. This is a class where we’re going to be able to explore and evaluate different point of views.
