Reflect, in at least, 6 rows, on how could you improve your IRR. What will you be doing differently next semester?

  1. I would improve my IRR by not including testimonies, and checking for mistakes that I made on citing different things since everything is cited different. Also, I would start my IRR with more time because I was rushed to write so maybe it wasn't my best effort and I would need to do a better job on the research. I also mention people in general instead of being specific. Next semester I will organize my time wisely and make sure I have enough time to do a better research and have time to check my IRR several times before I turn in the final one. Moreover, I will not commit simple mistakes and check purdue OWL more often.

  2. I could improve the organization of my IRR, sometimes I combined ideas and it confused the reader with the main idea. I could also improve the grammar techniques that I used and some spelling mistakes that I had. What I will do differently next semester is to organize my ideas in a clear oder, cite all of my sources correctly in the in text citation. I will also take more time in doing my IRR since it takes some time to revise the final draft to see if everything is the way it was expected to.

  3. In my IRR I had the most errors in the citation which I could improve on. I can improve this by checking Owl Purdue before submitting and rechecking my sources and in-text citations. Additionally, I need to stop citing twice so not say it in the text and then put it into the citation. For the future IRR, I need to check the rubric consistently, include evidence and analysis, as well as a counter argument with a rebuttal and a well written conclusion and solution (as I did in the previous IRR).

This semester I had very minimal errors in my Individual Research Report, which consisted in their entirety of just one bigger issue and an almost undetectable mistake: I cited a source at the end of an analytical paragraph and I indented my footnotes. These two are things one should not ever do in an IRR as I've learned, and next semester I'll make sure those mistakes do not happen again, which I'll accomplish by only using in-text citations directly after the exact words of an author or what was said in a source and before creating an interpretation or analysis of the information contained in that source, as well as by not indenting my footnotes.

  5. All of the flaws in my Individual Research Report are related in one way or another to the formatting details and the inconsistency between my citations throughout my paper. Although these details are rather minimal, they do interrupt the overall formality of my IRR. Next semester, I'll make sure to make the best use out of all the formatting resources I have at my disposition, mainly the sample papers in my binder, the little white book, and the Purdue OWL website.

  6. The errors I had in my Individual Research Report were mainly conventions. My citations weren't properly done, and the formatting wasn't effectuated in the most accurate manner. Additionally, my language and style at some points had to be written at a more academic level, and I believe that parts of the report could have been more profound, others more concise, and their organization improved. For these two things, I have to make a deeper revision of my IRR and make use of sample papers and material that is available for us, like the AP Seminar books and website.

  7. Most of the mistakes I had in my IRR involved conventions and mistakes within the format of the paper. For example, I was not consistent with the capitalizing of my titles, and one citation was incoherent with the one in the reference list. I also did not center my title, and there other errors regarding arguments and where some main claims should have been positioned. For my next IRR, I will compare and analyze my IRR with the samples from OWL and the AP Seminar Site that contains the proper style of an IRR.

  8. I would improve my IRR by citing correctly. Before turning in the work, I will verify two or three times if my citations are correctly. Moreover, before adding any information, I will check if it has reliable evidence and summarize it to make the work efficient. I need to organize my time wisely because I didn’t had enough time to do corrections. Next semester I will try to make an excellent work and check every aspect to get a good grade. Also, check the samples from OWL and the Ap Seminar site to add a proper style to my next work.

  9. I would improve my IRR by choosing a deeper and more detailed question. My topic was very open, leaving a lot of unanswered questions in my IRR. Then, I would choose another lense that is not the social since most of the information is based on personal experiences, and that can harm your grade. I would prevent using experiences since that doest not inform the reader about the rest of the society. Also, revise several times my citation until I am sure they are all correct.

  10. There are a few ways I could improve my IRR. One of them would be using proper citation. For instance, if there is a source within a source, I must use "as cited in" in the in-text citation. Another way would be using footnotes. For instance, if there are authors' qualifications that will make a source more credible, I must include them as footnotes, not as normal text. One last way would be specifying some sentences more. For instance, if I write "underage drinking economically harms both society and citizens", I must explain in that same sentence how the economy of society and citizens is being harmed by underage drinking.

  11. I would improve my IRR by including more reliable evidence based on more statistics and research made by reliable people. I would also improve my IRR by citing correctly the sources in the in-text citation. Instead of writing the whole name of the author at the end of the sentence, I could use “as cited in” and include the name of the author. Another thing that I could use are footnotes to include the author’s qualifications and prove that the evidence is reliable. Not only this, but when there are a lot of authors in a single source, when citing them a second time, instead of writing their names, I could use “et. al.” For my next IRR, I will cite my sources using the sample paper from the OWL Sample Paper and the samples provided in the website from the class to make sure I’m properly writing my work.

  12. After observing and analyzing the comments provided by the teacher on my IRR, I came to the conclusion that I should revise it more before turning it in as it seems a very small amount of sentences went past my sight without being complete. There was this instance where there was a lack of information and could possibly lead to less reliability or confusion. This small change would bring a massive improvement in my creation of IRR's and I will strive to fully achieve this.

  13. After analyzing deeply the comment proportionated by the teacher on my IRR, I can see that I should improve my APA format in the IRR, since in this IRR I was lacking of the correct format. I should revise my text afterwards even deeper since I had some mistakes in the grammar since informal spelling can not be used. Also I need to give more reliability to my sources since I had the mistake that I was not giving the enough credit to the author, by this not showing the complete reliability of the source. Also I need to improve my intext citations since I had mistakes in the format.

  14. To improve my IRR I need to cite correctly in text-citations. For this I can use OWL in order to guide me how to do it. I need to use less but more reliable sources, like EBSCO for example. Also, whenever I say "some people" I need to say which people (who) in order to make the report more reliable and try not to repeat information. I need to start working on my IRR long before its due because last IRR I left almost everything for the last minute.

  15. To improve my IRR, I could take better care of the information I'm providing. While writing my IRR last semester, I used to due it all on a rush, as it was my first time and was a bit lost. This time, now that I have more knowledge about it, I can take my time and make a better job at my research. I can look at different sources instead of just a few and investigate thoroughly countries where the problem is taking place.
